Welcome to Sally.Darlison.com.auSally’s work explores place, memory and people and the relationships that we form between them. Memories shape us, guide us, calm us, and stir up a range of passions within us. Our memories are invested with the experiences gathered and shared along our journey of life. Visual image stimulates memory and provides links to common experiences. Sally’s work combines images and maps, as she explores ways in which they can be used to record and trigger memory. She finds the urban, bush and desert environments fascinating and challenging and each represent an aspect of her life with unique links to her memories. Her images are also a simple record of roads actually travelled, places visited and even the framework for future journeys. As a collage artist and printmaker she uses a variety of media combining fabric, photos, maps, text and various printmaking techniques. She uses machine and hand stitch to draw, bind and link. |

What's newSally's next solo exhibition opens on August 11 at Red Gallery St Georges rd, North Fitzroy. www.redgallery.com.au "Long Socks" explores identity, belonging and tribe in three football codes of soccer, rugby union and australian rules. The work is predominantly print with collaged elements of textile and paper. Once again, maps and stitch feature in Sally's work. Maps of the grounds collaged and printed onto silk stitched onto the shorts and knitted socks sewn onto the legs of the printed players. Sally would love you to visit the show and send her some feedback after you've seen it. |
